We Welcome our Distinguished Guests in COTONOU
It
is with a great pleasure that the Republic of Benin welcomes
in Cotonou the eminent personalities and delegates who
will take part in the working sessions of the Ministerial
Conference of the Least Developed Countries on the theme
:
‘’
The Least Developped Countries Programme of Action and
Poverty Alleviation’’
By
initiating this meeting, the Republic of Benin, as Chairman
of the LDCs Coordination Bureau, intends to grant LDCs
Group, that it is honoured to represent for a five year
period (2002-2007), the opportunity to have a fruitful
debate in Cotonou on LDCs Development and the effective
implementation of various resolutions adopted toward this
end in various international fora.
The
Republic of Benin is therefore offering LDCs Group a convivial
framework that will enable it on the one hand, to look
back on some major events such as the Ministerial Conference
of the World Trade Organisation held in Doha (Quatar)
the Monterrey Conference on Development Financing and
on the other to have a prospective view point on some
events such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
This
meeting shall definitely enable the consolidation of solidarity
within LDCs Group, give it a new dynamic and also to face
the new challenges with a reinforced cohesion.
Our
sincere wish is that Cotonou could serve as a decisive
step in the battle waged by the Least Developed Countries
to sett off their development and combat the scourge of
poverty.
With
such conviction, the Republic of Benin renews its well
wishes and welcome to its distinguished guests at the
Ministerial Conference of the Least Developed Countries
and assures them of its total availability to spare no
effort to make it sure that the deliberations are conducted
in very good conditions for efforts pooled together to
yield results up to our expectations.
The
government of the Republic Peoples of the Republic of
BENIN wish full success to LDCs Ministerial Conference
in Cotonou.
