Delegates appreciate the tourist
attractions of Benin
Alongside the activities of the Ministerial Conference
on LDCs, Wednesday morning was spent to make participants
discover the tourist attractions of South Benin.
Participants visited the Lake City of Ganvié,
the Ethnographic Museum of Porto-Novo, the slaves route
in Ouidah Three of them express here their impressions.
“
Ganvié is a beautiful area. It is a wonderful
experience of the way people can simply organize their
life in order to leave peacefully in a world where there
are so many problems. Ganvié symbolizes a choice
which inspire dream; that has driven us far away from
the realities of the modern world.
Ganvié is a poetry in the modern world”.
Mr
ICHANFI Ismaël
Secretary General of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of the Comoros
"
In Ganvié, I noticed a complicity between man
and nature. In Ganvié, man has accepted nature
and adapted it to his way of life. Ganvié represents
the domination of the universe by man. Developed countries
control nature.
In some way, Ganvié also reflects the domination
of nature by man.”
Blu
AMETOVIADZI
Officer in charge of Multilateral Cooperation at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Togo.
I visited Benin forty years ago. The Country and its
populations have kept their charm. Benin has a lot of
tourist attractions. The support of the international
community is needed to make tourism a development priority.
Benin which is ensuring coordination of the group of
LDCs must work in that line.
Tourism with a product of the type of the slaves route,
in a country like Benin, will naturally attract Americans
and other peoples. All factors are favourable for a
tourist destination.
Mr
Geoffrey LIPMAN,
Special Advisor of the Secretary General for
the Commerce of tourist Services.
