CEREMONY OF THE 12th LDC’S MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE
President KEREKOU’s for
a Fair Exchange System
The President of the Republic of BENIN, Mathieu KEREKOU
closed the working sessions of the 12th Ministerial
Conference of the Least Developed Countries held in
Cotonou from 5 to 7 August, 2002.
The Benin Head of State recalled the Brussels Programme
of Action and the international Commitments made for
the LDCs. He stressed once more to the participants
the opportunity granted to Cotonou meeting to assess
the work done and reckon results one year after Brussels.
It was a good opportunity for President KEREKOU to call
for the establishment of a “Fair, Transparent
and Opened Exchange System”.
President KEREKOU commended the commitment of the Participants
to the Conference and the quality of their debates.
He wished that the Johannesburg Summit offers to the
LDCs the chances for a new start.
