CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE 12th LDC’S MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE
President KEREKOU’s for a Fair Exchange System

The President of the Republic of BENIN, Mathieu KEREKOU closed the working sessions of the 12th Ministerial Conference of the Least Developed Countries held in Cotonou from 5 to 7 August, 2002.

The Benin Head of State recalled the Brussels Programme of Action and the international Commitments made for the LDCs. He stressed once more to the participants the opportunity granted to Cotonou meeting to assess the work done and reckon results one year after Brussels.

It was a good opportunity for President KEREKOU to call for the establishment of a “Fair, Transparent and Opened Exchange System”.

President KEREKOU commended the commitment of the Participants to the Conference and the quality of their debates. He wished that the Johannesburg Summit offers to the LDCs the chances for a new start.
